That gap is tight in a lot of older Glenway rooms. Where there is at least 75 millimetres between the trim and the moulding, a bracket fits and the rod sits above the frame. Where there is nothing, we mount the track to the ceiling and let the fabric run the full height, which reads taller anyway. We check the clearance before quoting.

During the day yes, at night no. An open-weave sheer holds daylight privacy because the light outside is stronger than the light in the room, and after dark that reverses completely. Front rooms that need evening privacy get a second layer on a double rod, or a light-filtering shade underneath the fabric. Either works, and we price both.

As a rule the fabric across the panels needs to add up to about twice the opening, and a little extra gives fuller pleats. Anything less and the panels hang flat and thin when closed, which is the giveaway on store-bought sets. Length runs to the floor with a small break, or a centimetre clear of it if the room has heavy traffic.

Yes. The motor sits in the track and runs off a rechargeable battery, so nothing goes into the plaster. It opens and closes the panels from a remote or on a schedule, and it holds heavier lined fabric better than a hand pull does over the years. Wall switches and hub control are options if you want them later.
