Height is usually not the binding limit, width is. Past about three metres of width a roller tube begins to sag at its midpoint, which sends the fabric creeping sideways, so we either move to a heavier tube or split the opening into two blinds meeting at a mullion. On a very tall loft window we also add weight to the hem bar so the blind hangs plumb and does not curl at the edges.

Standard roll drops the fabric behind the tube, close to the glass, which suits most windows. With a deep masonry sill, a reverse roll brings the fabric off the front and past the brick edge so it hangs clear instead of resting on the sill and scuffing. Reverse costs you a couple of centimetres of projection at the top. On an inside mount in a shallow reveal, that can be the deciding factor.

Not really. Blinds go up the stairs in a bundle and the longest piece is the width of your widest window. What we ask about beforehand is parking, since the tubes are awkward to carry from a distant spot, and whether the stairwell has tight turns that a three metre blind cannot make. If a turn is impossible we build that window as two blinds rather than damaging the blind or your walls.

Light filtering is woven closed. It glows, softens the room, and you cannot see through it in either direction. Solar screen is a mesh with an open weave, so it cuts glare and heat while you keep the view out. Solar screens are one way, though: they work in daylight and go transparent from outside once your lamps are on. Bedrooms get light filtering or blackout, living rooms with a view get solar.
