Water sitting inside the cells is the problem. A light spatter dries out fine if you raise the shade and let air move through it. A proper soaking runs down inside the honeycomb, dries slowly and leaves a tide line along the pleats, and repeated soakings soften the creases until the shade stops stacking evenly. On the windows you actually leave open in weather, a roller or a PVC vane takes the abuse far better.

A blackout honeycomb gets you most of the way, and the light that beats it comes around the edges rather than through the cells. On an inside mount you will see a bright outline at that hour. If somebody in the house genuinely cannot sleep through it, we put a blackout roller inside the frame and hang the honeycomb over the top, so one handles the light and the other handles the cold.

On a wide one, yes, and it turns into a slow flap that people either never notice or cannot stop watching. The air comes off the blades, runs along the ceiling and drops down the glass, which is exactly where the shade is hanging. Hold-down brackets screwed to the sill settle it permanently. Failing that, running the fan the other way in summer pushes air up the middle of the room instead.

They should, and buyers expect it. Every shade is cut to one opening, so a set taken out of here fits almost nothing else and ends up in a barn. Leave them, and hand over the paperwork with the sizes and the fabric on it. That has more value to whoever comes next than the shades themselves would have to you, and it is what we would tell you to do with any window in the house.
