The track goes on the ceiling. In a loft that is usually a concrete slab or a steel deck, and both take a proper anchor once we know which one we are into. Ceiling mounting also suits the room, since the panel runs from the top of the space to the floor and the brick stays uninterrupted. We confirm the substrate at the measure.

Sheer panels give you privacy in daylight and very little after dark, because once your lights are on the balance flips and the room reads clearly from outside. If daytime is all you need, sheers on their own are fine. Where a unit faces another building at close range, most people end up wanting something that closes fully as well.

Run the track 15 to 20 centimetres past each side of the frame where the wall allows it. That gives the open panels somewhere to sit off the glass, so you keep the daylight in a unit that has no light to spare. In a tight room we sometimes stack everything to one side and run the track only in that direction.

Weight matters more than reach here. On a track that runs several metres, drawing a heavy lined panel by hand wears the carriers and the leading edge collects hand marks over time. A motor moves it evenly every time. If the run is short and the fabric is light, a hand-drawn track with a baton does the job and there is nothing to charge.
