Vertical Blinds in Appleby

Vertical blinds in Appleby go up on back doors more than anywhere else in the house. This part of east Burlington is full of family homes with a slider onto the yard, and that opening gets used forty times on a summer Saturday. Vanes take it. They swing clear when someone walks through and settle back after, and a damaged one swaps out on its own without touching the rest of the blind. Newer townhomes near the GO station have narrower doors than the older builds along Appleby Line, so track length varies more here than people expect. We cut both track and vanes to the opening we measure. A Sheldon Creek-area backsplit took new verticals on the walkout slider, the third treatment that opening has worn since the seventies and the first one cut to its actual size. Streets close to Sheldon Creek generate steady inquiries, with Appleby Line drawing the second wave. Around Appleby, the dominant housing types pull vertical blinds in a few specific directions. Townhouses with patio doors out to backyards or basement walk-outs are core vertical blind territory. PVC for high-traffic, fabric for living spaces. Family suburban homes with rear sliders to the deck still default to verticals when the door sees daily traffic. Fabric vanes in the kitchen-side rooms suit better than PVC.

Vertical Blinds Service Near You in Appleby

Burlington runs from lakeshore condos with floor-to-ceiling west glass to the family streets of Millcroft and the older homes of Aldershot. The condo work is mostly about heat and glare off the lake in late afternoon. The Aldershot work is mostly about odd window sizes in homes that have been renovated two or three times since the 1960s.

We measure everything ourselves because Burlington's housing stock is too mixed for assumptions. A vertical blinds order for a Brant Street condo and one for a Tyandaga split-level have nothing in common except the fabric book we bring to both.

Measurement appointments in Burlington book within 2-3 days. You get the exact price at the appointment, not a range. Custom production takes 2-3 weeks, and most installs finish in 2-3 hours.

No call centre here. The person who answers for Appleby is part of the same small team that measures and installs. Reach us any day by phone or through the form.

FAQ

Vertical Blinds Questions

Everything you need to know about vertical blinds. Need more help? We're here.

What vane width should we choose?

The standard is 89 millimetres and a 127 millimetre vane is available for wide openings. Narrow vanes suit a smaller door and park tighter at the side. Wider ones use fewer pieces across a big span, which means less visual repetition and less to clean, though they need more room when fully open. On a typical family-home slider we fit the 89.

Do vertical vanes swing when a furnace vent blows on them in an Appleby house?

They can, and a floor register right under a slider is the usual culprit. A chain along the bottom hem links the vanes so they move together and settle instead of drifting apart. Weighted hems help too. Where the register sits directly below the track we sometimes suggest a deflector, a cheap part that stops the airflow hitting the fabric head-on.

Are vertical blinds dated for a newer Appleby townhome?

The 1980s versions were, and the reputation stuck. Current fabric vanes come in textured neutrals that look closer to a soft shade than to a plastic slat, and the headrails are slimmer than they used to be. On a wide door there is still nothing better at clearing the opening. If the look worries you, ask for the fabric samples and skip the PVC when we visit.

Can vertical blinds cover a corner where two windows meet?

Yes, with two tracks butted at the corner and the vanes cut so they close against each other. A single bent track is possible and rarely worth it, because the corner is exactly where you want the vanes to part. We plan which side each track parks on so nothing collides. Corner arrangements need a site visit before ordering.
