Onto the face of the bulkhead or up into the ceiling in front of it, depending on how deep it runs. A bulkhead usually hides ductwork, so we probe for the backing before anything is fixed and never rely on drywall alone. Fixing to the face keeps the panels forward of the glass and hides the track behind the fabric. Going up into the ceiling gives the room more height, which on a standard condo ceiling is worth having.

Some do, and it is worth reading the declaration before you choose a lining. Buildings that care usually ask for a white or neutral face toward the glass so the elevation reads evenly, which is easy to meet since most linings are off white anyway. A bold coloured or patterned lining is the one that draws a letter. Nothing stops you using whatever you like on the room side. Check first if you are on a street facing elevation rather than over the parking.

Panels are cut, sewn and hemmed to your measurements, so plan on the better part of a month from the measure to the day we hang them. Hardware normally lands before the fabric does. If you are working toward a date, raise it at the first visit. The goods get ordered first and the install books once the workroom confirms. Rushing a hem is the one thing we will not do.

Some people do it and it works well when the hardware is planned around it. Ripplefold carriers and rings both come off a track quickly, so an unlined panel can go up in June and the heavy lined pair returns in October. Two complete sets is real money, though. The cheaper version is one lined pair over a light-filtering blind, and you let the blind do the seasonal work.
