In a bedroom nobody ever looks at the head of the blind, and an open roll costs less and takes up marginally less depth. Most people here run cassettes downstairs and open rolls upstairs. Mixing them is fine, since the two never appear in the same sightline.

Yes, and it is worth thinking about room by room. We set the chain side at the time of order, usually away from a corner or a piece of furniture so nobody has to reach over a dresser. In a small bedroom, putting the chain on the open side of the room is the difference between a blind that gets used and one that gets ignored. Say so on the day and it goes on the order per window.
