What it cannot do is drop down from the angled top, so the upper triangle stays covered once fitted. Most people are fine with that, since the reason for covering it was the glare it throws in the first place.

A lowered honeycomb barely moves, which is one of its quiet advantages. The fabric holds its own shape and hangs close to the glass, so air off a fan passes in front of it rather than behind. What does move is a shade left halfway with the bottom rail free in a strong downdraft, and you hear it tap the frame. Running the fan in reverse over winter puts the airflow up at the ceiling and stops that entirely.

Not if the rod stands far enough off the wall. A cellular shade sits within a few centimetres of the glass, so the panels need brackets long enough that the fabric never rests against the cells when it is drawn. Anything pressing on a honeycomb for months leaves a flattened band you cannot steam out. Ten to twelve centimetres of projection clears it comfortably, and it also lets the panels stack back without bunching against the window casing.

Ten to fifteen years of ordinary use is a fair expectation, and it fails gradually rather than all at once. What you notice first is a shade that needs a firmer push at the bottom of its travel, or one that will no longer hold at the very top. The spring sits in the head rail and is a replaceable part, so the fabric stays and the mechanism gets sorted. Shades left at one height most of the year outlast those moved twice a day.
