Yes, and a metre or two of the curtain fabric ordered at the same time is worth having whether you use it now or not. It comes off the same roll, so there is no dye lot argument later. Keep the heavy work to the curtains though. A drapery weight cloth on a seat somebody actually sits on wears through at the front edge, so for cushions we would use it on the backs and a hard wearing fabric on the face.

Taking length out is straightforward on almost any panel, and it is a workroom job rather than something to attempt with pins. Adding length is where it stops, because a lined pleated panel cannot grow without a seam across the face that you will see forever. So if the floor is going up rather than down, tell us the finished height you expect and we make to that now.

Yes, over a few weeks, on lined pleated panels hung properly. The lining pulls the fabric straight as it settles. You can speed it along with a garment steamer held a hand's width off the face, never pressed against it, and always worked from the back on a synthetic. Do not iron a pleated heading. If a crease is still sitting there after a month, it was set in shipping and we will deal with it.

Unlined is for a room where you want the fabric to glow and privacy is not the point. Standard lining is the default: it shields the face fabric from sun, adds body so the folds hold their shape, and cuts a fair amount of light. Blackout lining is heavier again and it changes the look, since the panel hangs stiffer. In most houses we line everything on an exterior wall and leave sheers unlined.
