Yes, and they are worth keeping. We mount outside the opening on the face of the casing, high enough that the shutters still fold and latch behind the blind. The fabric then covers a little wall on each side, which most people prefer for light control anyway. The one measurement that matters is the depth of the shutter panel when folded, because the bracket has to clear it by a few millimetres.

A solar screen in a mid to dark tone. Pale colours feel cooler as a choice but they bounce glare back into the room, so you end up looking through a bright haze. A darker screen absorbs more and gives a cleaner view out at the same openness. If the glare is only bad for an hour or two, a 3 percent openness screen handles it without shutting the room in for the rest of the day.

Work cold and slow. A damp cloth with a little dish soap, blotting rather than rubbing, then let it dry fully while it hangs down. Do not reach for a melamine sponge or anything with bleach in it, they lift the coating and leave a shiny patch that catches the light. Grease marks near a kitchen are the ones that never quite come out, which is why a wipeable fabric belongs in that room.

We remake it. Our installer takes the measurements, so a size error is ours and it is not something you pay for twice. Custom blinds are cut to the millimetre for one specific opening, which is why measuring is not a job we hand to a customer over the phone. The rest of the order goes up on the day and the remake follows on a short second visit. The workings carry a 3-year warranty as well.
