Usually yes. A zebra cassette needs about 50 mm of flat depth at the head, and vinyl extensions on new builds normally give us that. The screws bite into the extension itself, or we move the brackets onto the header above the glass where the framing is solid. If the return is thin and flexing, we mount outside the opening on the drywall with anchors and cover the frame edge instead. We decide that at the measure, not on install day.
