Usually not through two floors. Radio range is roughly 20 metres in open air and drops fast through concrete, ductwork or a plaster wall. In a three-storey house we set up a handset per floor, or a wall-mounted plate near the light switches on each level. If you want everything from one point, that is when a hub earns its place, since it repeats the signal rather than relying on line of sight.

It is the simplest one. A motorized roller has nothing hanging beside the window, no chain, no cord, nothing a child can reach. The alternative is a cordless spring lift, which is also safe and costs less, but a small child can still pull on the bottom rail. In a nursery we would put the motor on that window and leave manual blinds in the rooms where it does not matter.

That is exactly the window motors are for. A small tube motor fits blinds down to about 60 cm wide, so a transom or an entry sidelight can take one. The honest catch is charging. A battery tube on a high window needs a ladder once a year, so on those we either run a low-voltage lead down inside the casing during install or add a small solar panel at the glass.

Very little. Recharge the battery tube when the handset flashes at you, roughly once a year and sooner in a cold room. Keep the fabric and the tube ends free of dust so nothing binds. Past that, the limits occasionally drift a millimetre or two after a few hundred cycles and want resetting, which takes a minute with the remote.
