The vanes do, the track does not. Each vane unhooks from its carrier by hand, so a whole blind strips down in about five minutes and stacks flat somewhere safe while the painter works. Leave the track up and mask it. What we would not do is paint around a hanging blind, because roller spray settles as a fine grit on PVC and a fabric vane holds it for good.

Mostly proportion. The 127 mm vane is the standard on a full-width slider and it stacks in fewer, wider pieces, which suits a big opening. The 89 mm vane suits a narrow window or a door in a smaller room, where wide vanes look clumsy. There is a practical difference too. Narrower vanes mean more carriers on the track, so the stack at the end is deeper when they are all pushed back.

Yes. Tracks come in white, ivory, brown and a brushed metal finish, and the choice matters most where the track sits exposed above a door. Matching the track to the trim keeps it quiet, while matching it to the vanes makes the whole unit read as one piece. A fabric-wrapped valance is the other route, which hides the track completely. We bring finish samples to the measure.

We hang them 12 to 15 mm off the floor. The vanes have to swing without catching, and a floor that runs out by a few millimetres across the opening will catch them if we cut it tighter than that. On a door with a raised threshold we measure to the highest point and let the rest run a little longer. You see the gap if you look for it and not otherwise.
