There is wood, it is just further up. A door opening has framing across the top, usually an inch or two above the trim, and that is what we find and fix into. Where the ceiling is closer we go up into the joists instead. Drywall anchors alone will not carry a loaded track over the years, and we will not hang one that way.

Past roughly two and a half metres they can bow or twist, especially on a sunny wall where the fabric relaxes. A weighted hem chain steadies them but reads heavy and rattles. PVC holds a straight line at that height without help. If you are covering a two-storey drop, verticals are the wrong product and we would point you at a roller instead.

It is one of the easiest parts on the whole blind. The wand hooks onto the tilt gear at one end of the headrail and a new one pushes straight back on, no tools needed. Order it by the length rather than the brand, since the fitting is close to universal on modern tracks. Keep a spare with the unit paperwork if you turn tenants over often. It is the part most likely to go and the least likely to need us.
